Caricature video

Firstly, my sincerest apologies to the subject Erica. Her caricature turned out a bit harsh (it ended up looking more like Queen Latifah). But hopefully you can enjoy it as an insight into my caricaturing process.

A little something extra...originally the video went longer as I added more colours, but I ended up preferring the monotoned version, so I edited the rest out. But here's the artwork anyway.

Борат Сагдиев- Sexy time with Borat

For those not in the know, Borat is the creation of comedian, Sacha Baron Cohen (who also plays the character Ali G). His Borat character need only stand there with his stupid expression and I piss myself laughing. So I tried to capture that.

As usual here are also some dud attempts.

Noticing a pattern yet?

Sigh...more caricatures and victims.

Don't worry, the novelty will wear off eventually, or my short attention span will kick in and I'll draw something else.

...but dammit they're so much fun!

Grumpy supermodel sketch

Done for one of the monthly jams over at Drawing Board.

Don't know why supermodels always look like they've sucked on a lemon. Maybe she's thinking about all the tax she has to pay on her monumental earnings. I think she was trying to go for sultry in the photo, but she ended up looking like she wanted to punch my lights out.

Anyway, it was a good photo for stylising and elongating. Good hair to draw too.

Guess what...More Caricatures!

I've been doing a lot of these lately. Sick of 'em yet?

Some more Caricaturist's Caricatures from over at The Drawing Board. Here are photos of the victims.

Cyber Avenger

An editorial piece from a while back, about a woman who crusades against computer piracy and hackers. I had to illustrate her as some kind of superhero.

The magazine article's layout was a bit weird, which explains the chunk missing from the top left, which accommodated part of the title.

I still like the way the hands turned out in the foreground.

You can't keep a Goodman down

Yet another caricature, this time of actor John Goodman. Once again from over at the Drawing Board Jam. I had heaps of fun drawing all the wrinkles and skin folds on this one.

For those of you interested, here are my many failures, false starts and warmup sketches before I reached the final version.

Bowerbirds of fashion

An illustration from a few years back from a magazine article of the same name. For those not familiar with bowerbirds, the males collect objects in their nest (primarily blue) to impress females come mating season.

I've also included a link to the concept sketches from the illustration.

Humour with Uma

A couple of caricatures of actress Uma Thurman, from the Caricature Jam over at The Drawing Board.

Not an easy one to draw. She has so many caricaturable features, the challenge is finding a good balance. Hell, even her ears are funny-looking.

Here are some more caricatures from over at the Drawing Board, and here you can find the photos of the subjects.

And while we're on the subject of funny heads, here are some caricatures of your's truly done by various artists over at the Drawing Board.
