Frank- Thanks mate. We hadn't thought of names while doing it. Matt had come up with brief suggestions as to what their powers could be but nothing was set in stone. So even though the briefs were detailed they left a lot of room for interpretation.

Eventually we both came up with our own list of names for the characters. Mine were typical superhero names whereas Matt's were based more on traditional (baby) name definitions which applied to the hero's personalities.

Matt's were passed on to the clients for use as I wasn't available on the day to contribute my suggestions.

I'll add both our suggested name lists to the blog entry.

all I can say is wow. and what a cool project to work on. So were you thinking up character names and back stories while drawing these great characters or had your agent already done that for you. I really like the blue and orange guy with the eagle on his belt he seems very super.
It all looks sharp and flawless as usual with your artworks.

Pat- Well, for me here in Australia it was just a matter of looking up Illustration agency names in the phonebook (not many, about 4 here in Sydney) and doing the rounds with my portfolio until I had success.

One well known agency in the US I know of is called Shannon and Associates, they represent illustrators, photographers and writers.

To the question of how common agency representation is here, I know just as many artists who still represent themselves as I do those who are with agents, but slowly more and more are making the switch to an agent after eventually getting sick of having to drum up their own work and chase up their payments instead of spending time drawing.

Pat- For me, the main reason to use an agent is not having to go through all the hassles of finding work, keeping it consistent and not having to chase up late payments etc. Basically, just being able to concentrate on doing art without all those other worries is well worth the percentage paid for an agent.

About 95% of my work comes from my agent. The rest comes from either old contacts or via this blog.
