SHAZAM!
Some art I did for a Captain Marvel Superhero Jam over at The Drawing Board.
I inked this with a brush pen, and coloured it in Photoshop using the Colour Halftone filter to give it an authentic retro comicbook feel. I also shifted the colours slightly and lightened the pure black to give it an aged look.

Wow..... I love the colouring you did on this... Makes me realise I need to learn how to colour... well at least in the lines... Start small I guess... anyways.. great job.... PEACE!

This I like, Chris! Can you recommend a specific brush pen? I've been wanting to try one out.
That retro/old look came out pretty well.
great pic!
cool drawing
Thanks. I'm glad you all like this piece.
It's funny how things work out. On my first attempt at this drawing I ruined it because I was overanalyisng the design and structure too much. Almost giving up I decided to give it one last try and just draw on autopilot, trusting my gut instincts, and what I ended up with was a quick spontaneous piece which I'm really happy with.
Travis- I'm using the Tombow Dual brush. They should be available worldwide in arts and craft stores.
Thanks, Chris!
I love the smug expression - a true hero!
On the vintage point I have to say that characters from that period tend to be a lot more stiff... I guess there are things better not imitated.
Love your stuff by the way, especially the tutorials!
Nice!
samuli- Thanks. I agree with your observations. I only decided to go retro with it after I'd pencilled it.
Dominic- Thanks, man.
Really Nice. I saw this and thought it was reminicent of a peice i did awhile ago of Shazam. Check my blog to see it.
