Demon Slayer- Now in colour!
A similar theme following on from my last post, this one's a pinup for the trade paperback of fellow Aussie, Hayden Fryer's comicbook- Billy: Demon Slayer.
EDIT: Originally done as a black and white pinup, it's now also been coloured as a promotional poster.
I'm really enjoying where I've been going with my inking lately. Inked once again with a brushpen, this was inked straight over the rough layout, skipping my usual final pencil stage in the process. It forced me to draw with the ink, instead of just 'tracing' my own pencils. This seemed to result in a more spontaneous finish. Hopefully I can apply this reckless abandon to other areas of my artwork.

Hey Chris, that's an awesome pinup! I love the great composition, which really draws attention to Billy from all the dark creatures/tentacles surrounding him!!
This piece inspires me to put in some serious hours at my drafting table. Thanks, Chris!
I wish my reckless abandon looked like this. Good job.

Cover of the first Billy: Demon Slayer TPB, perhaps? Really awesome artwork, Chris.
Great movement. I also like the subtle color treatment.Nice!
Nice job. The chainsaw kid makes me think about "Evil Dead".
That is TOO cool! Well done!
most inspirational! great composition and inks..wow
Thats absolutely awesome, Chris! :D I love how you put the view more or less behind the demon.
the focus is great, your eye just goes straight to Billy the demon slayer. :) ah, i just finish watching your Erica caricature video again... I enjoy watching your magic.

Thanks everyone for the great response!
oh nice pinup!!
Thanks for stopping by Bobby. Been really enjoying your recent video tutes.
This is a knockout pinup at every level! The composition is so dynamic, but I love the way you've made Billy into an almost real boy, yet still kept the nature of his character. I reckon you'd have to be the conceptual designer for the Billy movie!
Thanks Ian. Appreciated as always.
I Love this piece
It's very reminiscent of Berni Wrightson and I was just wondering if it's just a coincidence.
Great Work!
Thanks Brad!
It's funny, you're the third person to describe some of my work as being reminiscent of Mr. Wrightson. The thing is, I wouldn't list him as an influence on my drawing style. I don't even own any of his published works (Although that Frankenstein book of his would be nice to own.)
Just a coincidence (and a very flattering one at that)
