Self serving

I figured I'd try and squeeze at least one post in before the end of September. Been busy, busy with work and haven't had much time (or energy) to draw for myself...but I did get the opportunity instead, to draw myself. This self portrait was done for the monthly challenge over at RedBubble. It was inked pretty fast and I ended up getting some good spontaneity with the brushpen. I especially like the dry brush background.

Anyway, hopefully I'll have something more interesting to post next time. For now though, you'll just have to make do with my scruffy, bug-eyed mug.

That's beautiful brush work Chris.
When you say brushpen are you talking marker pen or wacom? I've been trying a pitt pen brush pen lately, but they seem to run out of ink pretty fast. Any suggestions on a good brand?

Seem to always go back to my sable brush and ink which feels more responsive.

Thx for the PS brushes btw. They are great to use.

Thanks guys!

Bob- This was inked using a Pentel brushpen. The great thing about it, is that is has synthetic hairs forming a very fine point and most importantly has replaceable ink cartridges. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the tip Chris. I will try one.
Are they waterproof when dry?
Was thinking of adding watercolour on top of my brush work.
I'm amazed at your skill with that Pentel brushpen. awsome stuff mate!

Thanks Damion!

Bob- I haven't used washes over these pens myself, but I read up on them and apparently the ink is waterprooof.
